Shepherd: “OK, thanks for trying.” “I just can’t give up on my little Buttercup. Narrator: “But the Sheep Search and Rescue folks were unable to find the lost lamb, and they soon gave up.” Yes, I want helicopters and trained sheep-finding dogs. I need your best team out here immediately. Shepherd: “Hello, Sheep Search and Rescue? Yes, I have an emergency. Narrator: “Immediately, he called for help.” Shepherd: “… Josiah, ninety-seven, Peter, ninety-eight, Caden, ninety-nine … Hey! Where’s little Buttercup?” Narrator: “One evening, as he was bringing the sheep home from the pasture, the Shepherd noticed that one of his sheep was missing.” Shepherd: “… and let that be a lesson to you!” Narrator: “One night, a thief tried to sneak in over the wall to steal a sheep, but the Shepherd heard them, woke and drove them away with his staff.” To protect them, he would sleep at the entrance to the fold, so that any enemy would have to go through him to get to the sheep.” Narrator: “Each day he made sure they got enough to eat and drink, and he brought them home safely to the sheep-fold at night. If anything threatened his sheep, he would drive them off.” And so, the shepherd sat on a high rock, watching over his sheep, so that none of them would be eaten. Sometimes a predator, like a bear, or a wolf, will try to eat one. Narrator: “Sheep are pretty dumb, so they have to be watched over carefully. Shepherd: “C’mon, sheep! Here, sheepy-sheep! Time to go!” Narrator: “Each day, he would carefully open the sheep-fold, and lead the sheep out to pasture.
